well, I have had my space in the shop for twelve years, I was lucky..
rent was $45.00 a month, new vendors pay $55.00 a month for a booth my size, plus 10%, I also have been sharing a booth for $27.50 a month,
well my friend decided not to have the booth anymore, so I thought, why not, I will have two...
so I will be paying $55.00 for the whole booth, one I will keep french and farmhouse, the other shabby and pink,
well, we had a shop meeting this morning and guess what.....the rent is going up....my old booth is now $55.00 plus $20.00 for the outside wall, that is $30 dollars more....eeekkkkk, plus the other booth I decided to take over....will stay at $55.00...
so now instead of paying $100 a month, which I was stressing about, I will now be paying $130...
I am crazy!!!!!
I don't know we will see...just seems hard, I need to just try, but I have a hard time with change...
so I have been painting....
for the shabby booth...
just started moving in...
and strarted rearanging in my old booth...
I am pooped!!! and still have so much to do!!!!
ok, I will stop whining now!
lol!
ps. I have had some emails on my selling on Etsy, I have a small Etsy and my online shop Rose Petals and Rust,
I will be listing more items on these sites soon, but if you see anything you like from the pictures I will be happy to get you a price and make you a reserved listing, thanks!!!!
Looks great! i am in Texas and I pay 125.00 plus 10% for a good size booth with loft area. Plus a corner front store window. You can do it. Your things look like what I sell. I paint alot of furniture and then fill with unique shabby things. judy
ReplyDeleteLoved your post! It will be a wonderful and prosperous adventure for you...hang in there! Cheers! Agnes
ReplyDeleteSo sorry your booth prices are going up. When I had my booth in Arkansas I paid $140.00 a month and now that we have moved to Louisville and I have started looking to re-open my booth it is $130.00 here.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to re-opening, my booth will also be shabby chic.
Take Care...

Yikes, the economy is tough. Hopefully, you can make up the difference in sales, but it's also forcing you to work harder. Good luck and health and wealth this new year. andrea@townandprairie
ReplyDeleteYou're going to do terrific! Your booths are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAll the best!

I think your rent isn't too bad! I have a 9x10 space for 264.00 + 5% at one shop. The other one is larger and 350.00 & 6% of monthly sales! Plus I have 2 "duty" days at the "cheaper" shop!
ReplyDeleteLove what you sell at both booths.

You need to sell more of your pieces on online so that I can rummage through your beautiful pieces! Your Etsy is nice ,but in your pictures I have seen a ton! Maybe you could feature pieces on your blog a couple times a week and people can buy them on Etsy if they want it? I know I would love to see your awesome pieces you have for sale = )
ReplyDeleteTake Care and Keep it up you will succeed!!!

Well rent is a lot higher at my mall here out west! Ugh! Love your booths, though. I would love to visit them. ♥
ReplyDeleteThe booths look great! I hope it all works out!

Your booth ...or booths are fabulous!! I have an 8 X 8 booth in Orlando and pay $240 plus %10, yours is looking pretty good to me! I think my rent is WAY to high!

I felt your panic last summer when 2 of my partners left. My portion was $90 and it went up to $150. Needless to say I was very worried and considered downsizing. However it also coincided with a change of ownership in the shop which greatly increased sales. The whole shop aesthetic changed and brought more people in that shop my style which is great. Nearly every month I have doubled what I was making last year even with the extra rent cost. I think space wise I get more bang for by buck though. Probably the difference in where we live. I am sure you will do fantastic now that you can stock it with all your stuff, you have such great things!
ReplyDeleteYour booth is so wonderful Stefanie - lots of great stuff and goodies. I hope the rent is worth it. How wonderful it most be to have a space like that. Wish we had something like that over here too.
ReplyDeleteAre we talking American dollars here because where I'm from that's a bargain. A 10x10 booth runs around 200. When I inquired about a simple shelf space it was 85.I don't' know how people make any profit after paying those kind of prices?
ReplyDeleteWell it appears you're off to a good start with both booths -- everything looks so appealing! That book "Every Sabbath" caught my eye right away . . . let me know more about it and how much! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love your booth! Soo pretty!
ReplyDeleteWow, I love your booth & the things you carry. I think you'll be a big success! BTW, as a Pixie Dust follower, you are welcome to pop over & enter a giveaway for a beautiful clock. Good luck & thanks for reading!

I'm positively drooling over the old ledgers {Sabbath one & the one next to it} in your old Booth! Yes, I go crazy too when things I need to keep in place increase in price and yet the budget stays the same... what to do, what to do?
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by for a visit and yes, WHEW was the Word for the Blog Incident, I must be Addicted now because I had major panic and Blogger Withdrawal when it disappeared! *LOL*
